Best platform for F&O trading: Zerodha vs Upstox vs Angel One vs Options Trader

Options trading requires more than low brokerage. A suitable platform should offer fast execution, real-time Option Greeks, integrated strategy builders, and advanced charting tools. Several discount brokers charge a competitive brokerage fee, but their features, workflows and overall trading experience differ.
In this blog, we will compare four leading platforms: Zerodha, Upstox, Angel One, and Options Trader by Dhan, to help you identify the best platform to trade options based on your trading style.
Zerodha
Zerodha is known for revolutionising the brokerage industry with its minimalist Kite platform. For derivative traders, Kite’s biggest advantage is its seamless integration with Sensibull, India’s largest options trading platform, available free of charge for Zerodha users.
Traders can analyse Open Interest (OI) build-up, evaluate multi-leg option strategies, and execute trades directly from Sensibull into Kite. The platform also supports both ChartIQ and TradingView charting libraries.
Zerodha charges a flat ₹20 per executed option order, while futures brokerage is ₹20 or 0.03% per executed order, whichever is lower. Zerodha charges ₹40 per executed F&O order if the account balance is negative or the collateral margin cash shortfall exceeds ₹5 lakh.
Upstox
Upstox offers a Pro Mobile app and a desktop platform for F&O, with a customisable option chain showing PCR, India VIX and Max Pain, plus option Greeks, OI analysis and ready-made Nifty and Bank Nifty strategies. It also supports basket orders (up to 20 orders at once) and offers free trading APIs.
Brokerage is ₹20 or 0.05% (whichever is lower) per executed futures order and a flat ₹20 per executed options order. It also offers TradingView chart integration, letting traders place and modify orders directly from live charts.
Furthermore, active traders can view up to 8 charts at once, making it easier to track multiple strikes during high volatility sessions. The trading app also allows traders to pledge eligible portfolio holdings instantly.
Angel One
Angel One shows call and put data in a single view, with OI, IV and Greeks for every strike and a choice of expiries. Charts run on TradingView, and the web platform links to external tools such as Sensibull and Streak.
Angel One charges ₹0 brokerage up to ₹500 for the first 30 days. After that, it charges ₹20 per executed F&O order. The platform also offers payoff charts, a strategy builder and algorithmic order types such as Smart Orders and trailing stop-losses.
Active traders also benefit from Angel One’s SmartAPI, which enables automated algorithmic trading with zero API subscription fees. Additionally, its Insta Trade feature lets traders analyse charts, view live P&L, and execute options trades from a single screen.
Options Trader (by Dhan)
Options Trader is Dhan’s dedicated platform for F&O traders, available as an app and on the web. It runs on Dhan’s own trading engine, DEXT, which powers Super Orders that place entry, target and stop-loss in one order.
Its custom strategy builder feature lets traders build multi-leg strategies across expiries and see maximum profit and loss, and live Greeks before executing. The brokerage is fixed at ₹20 per executed order for both F&O orders, and AMC is also zero for individuals.
Options Trader eliminates the need for third-party analytical tools. Traders can also place trades directly from the live option chain, view real-time payoff diagrams, track live OI changes, and run pre-market option scanners.
Conclusion
All four platforms are SEBI-registered brokers, but they have different brokerage, features, and fee structures. While Zerodha, Upstox, and Angel One are broad investing platforms that offer F&O trading alongside stocks and mutual funds, Options Trader is built specifically for F&O traders.
However, before choosing a broker, traders should compare brokerage, margin requirements, option-chain quality, execution reliability and strategy tools.
